I consider 18’’ to be the most drastic piece of the exhibition. My first idea of this artwork was inspired by a drag queen named Violet Chachki who became worldwide famous for her narrow waist. With corset her waist can be narrowed to only 18 inches. The painting shows extremely modified waist that is synched but without a corset. The extent to which the waist is contracted, represents unnaturally exaggerated beauty standards applied to human body with an invisible corset.
